Brick dome kiln
A downdraft brick kiln with a tall chimney and a smoke burner that burns off tar and gas, so it runs clean enough for pollution consent.
- Wood per batch
- 12–15 m³
- Charcoal out
- about 2 t
- Cycle
- about 2 weeks
Carbon Safe designs and builds charcoal and biochar kilns for producers, batch carbonisation plants for small units and research labs, and the digital measurement that turns biochar into carbon credits.
We build the equipment, train the people who run it and measure every batch, so your charcoal or biochar business works from the first burn.
Brick dome, jute-stick, flame-curtain, steel retort, bamboo and white-charcoal kilns. We supply drawings, build on your site and train your crew.

Every design starts with your feedstock and what you want to sell. Figures are typical ranges; we size each kiln after a site visit.

A top-lit brick and earth chamber with a vaulted roof and flare stacks. Built as a pilot first, then at factory size.
A steel cone or lined pit where the flame burns its own smoke. Quick to set up in villages and suited to small-scale biochar credit methods.
The wood is heated in a closed chamber and its own gases are burnt to fire it. Higher yield, a cleaner burn and tight temperature control.
A dome kiln tuned for bamboo. Bamboo charcoal can be exported from India with legal-source papers, unlike wood charcoal.
A thick-walled clay and stone kiln for binchotan-style charcoal, finished at around 1,000 °C and smothered in sand and ash.
Not everyone needs a big kiln. Our batch plants carbonise one controlled load at a time, with every temperature logged. That suits a unit starting small, a lab testing feedstocks, or a startup proving its biochar before it scales.

Carbon buyers pay for removals they can verify. We set up the digital measurement, reporting and verification that registries ask for, and train your team to keep it running.
We check your feedstock, kiln, records and sales against the methodology you plan to use, and list what is missing.
Weights, temperatures, geotagged photos and where the biochar goes, recorded batch by batch, even offline.
Lab results, logs and calculations assembled the way auditors expect to see them.
Sample record for illustration.
Tell us your feedstock, your site and what you want to sell.
We look at volumes, moisture and space, and the permits you will need.
You get drawings, a bill of materials and a clear quote.
We supervise the build and run the first batches with your crew.
We log the burns, tune the yield and set up dMRV if you want credits.
Our team has hands-on experience with charcoal machines, kiln charcoal, biochar carbon credits, carbon sequestration methods, dMRV and biomass-pellet-fired incinerators. We bring that field experience to every design.
Carbon Safe is a new company. Our first partners get the founders' direct, hands-on attention on design, build and measurement.
A first estimate of biochar output, carbon removal and credit income. Real figures depend on your kiln, your lab results and the registry's rules.
Assumes 80% of the carbon stays stored for the long term and a 10% deduction for process emissions. Registries set these factors, so treat this as a first look before a feasibility study.
Plan a project with us →Yes. We design for any site and supervise the build in person or with a local mason team we train.
It depends on your feedstock, its moisture and size, and who will buy the charcoal or biochar. We recommend a design after a short site and feedstock check.
Yes. Batch plants log temperatures at several points and allow sampling, so they suit feedstock trials and biochar quality studies.
Yes. We set up data capture on existing kilns and build the evidence pack your verifier needs.
